Patrick and Claire welcome you to The Helyar Arms, a Grade II listed 15th Century Inn, that still retains a wealth of character and charm, set in the picturesque village of East Coker with its mellow stone and thatch cottages, almshouses, Historic Coker Court and St Michael’s church. You can visit the resting place of T.S. Eliot and discover the birthplace of the explorer William Dampier.
So if you’re after historic culture, countryside walks or a relaxing escape, our real log fires and warm, friendly atmosphere will make you welcome whilst you enjoy our great food, real ales, fine wines and Somerset ciders and we are sure you will feel comfortable and at home in our charming en-suite bedrooms.
Eat
We are real foodies here at The Helyar Arms and because of that our menu changes according to the local produce available from neighbouring farmers and suppliers. We offer both the pub classics that you might expect, as well as fine dining dishes for that special evening out. Our menus could be described as traditional British fare with a twist, embracing some influences from the middle and far eastern cuisines. We have tried to include dishes that will suit all palates and purses whether meat eaters, vegetarian or pescetarian! (Special Dietary Requirements can be catered for with prior notice).
Sleep
Our charming and comfortable rooms are situated on the first floor of the pub and have their own private access outside our licensing hours.
When morning comes guests can enjoy breakfast not only from our cereal buffet, with yoghurt and fresh berries but a cooked choice of chipolata sausages, smoked back bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes with eggs cooked how you like them. (Vegetarian options available)
Our double and kingsize beds are made up with cotton sheets and fluffy duvets and all the rooms have en-suite showers, tea and coffee making facilities, flat screen TVs and WiFi.
